European Economics Preview: UK Retail Sales Data Due
Retail sales from the UK and consumer confidence from Germany are the major economic reports due on Thursday.
At 3.00 am ET, Germany’s GfK consumer sentiment survey results are due. The forward-looking index is expected to remain unchanged at 10 in April.
In the meantime, the Turkish Statistical Institute is set to issue consumer confidence data. Economists forecast the index to fall slightly to 65.6 in March from 65.7 in February.
At 3.45 am ET, the French statistical office Insee publishes manufacturing confidence survey data. The confidence index is seen unchanged at 107 in March.
At 5.00 am ET, Poland’s unemployment data is due. The jobless rate is expected to remain stable at 8.6 percent in February.
At 5.30 am ET, the Office for National Statistics is set to release retail sales figures for February. UK retail sales are forecast to grow 0.4 percent on month in February, reversing a 0.3 percent fall in January.
At 7.00 am ET, the Confederation of British Industry publishes Distributive Trades survey results. The retail sales balance is forecast to drop to 4 percent in March from 9 percent in February.
