Forex News Trading Strategy for the 26th of September – 30th of September

This week could prove interesting with quite a few central bankers due to speak at different venues, as well as inflation data from the Euro Zone, U.S., and Japan.

Monday

The week begins with comments from the Bank of Japan’s Kuroda who is due to speak at a meeting with business leaders in Osaka, Japan. Last week the BoJ unveiled a new strategy for its current QQE program, with the goal of controlling short-term and long-term interest rates in order to steepen the yield curve. Traders will be looking for any addition comments from Kuroda for possible timing of any BoJ action.

Also due up Monday are SNB Chairman Jordan, who is due to speak at Sibos 2016, in Geneva. ECB President Draghi will follow him and testify before the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs of European Parliament.

Tuesday

Tuesday starts with a speech from the Bank of Canada’s Poloz who is due to speak about cross-border trade integration and monetary policy at Western Washington University. During the NY session we will see the latest US CB Consumer Confidence that is expect to come in at 99.0, giving back some of August’s gain in September.

Wednesday

Wednesday brings US Durable Goods Orders for August where forecasters are expecting a 1.5% decline after a 4.4% jump in July. The core print is also expected to see a decline of 0.4% for August, after a 1.3% gain in July. The session concludes with the EIA Crude Inventories where we saw a surprise draw last week that has helped to support the oil market.

Thursday

The Bank of Japan’s Governor Kuroda is scheduled to speak again on Thursday when he speaks at the National Securities Industry Convention in Tokyo. During the New York session we will get the Final GDP print from the U.S. for the second quarter, along with the Weekly Jobless Claims. Fed Chair Yellen will be speaking at the Minority Bankers Forum in Kansas City.

Friday

Friday brings an end to the month of September, and begins with Japanese Inflation, followed by the Chinese Caixin Manufacturing PMI during Asia. During London we will see the latest Current Account figures from the UK, along with the CPI Flash Estimate from the Euro Zone. Then during NY, Statistics Canada will release the Canadian GDP figures for July, followed by the U.S. PCE Price Index, the Fed’s preferred measure of underlying inflation.
