COLOMBIA: Country And Portugal Strengthen Trade And Investment Ties

The Presidents of Colombia and Portugal, Juan Manuel Santos and Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, met on Monday at the Belem Palace in Lisbon to identify new opportunities on trade, investment, and cooperation between their countries.

“We addressed key issues related to the ties between our countries and concrete routes of action to continue strengthening our friendship,” said the Colombian President, who is on a state visit to Portugal.

According to Santos, “the potential to grow is enormous. We have already been growing imports, exports, and we want to receive more and more Portuguese investment,” he said.

Both countries signed a declaration of will to set up a Binational Strategic Committee, which is a high-level body composed of representatives of the private sector belonging to the business, cultural and educational sectors, which would give recommendations for deepening the Colombian-Portuguese ties.
