Big oil groups around the world have revealed the
damage to their operations and balances sheets in the latest earnings season from the halving of the oil price since last year. The next wave of mergers will come as soon as the volatile crude price begins to stabilise. The FT’s US Energy Editor Ed Crooks identifies the predators and what kind of companies they are looking to buy.
